The newspapers here claim that the VVK Elite team is a rollercoaster, playing up then down, winning then losing, never showing any consistency. Our weekend in general seemed to take a similar course of action with lots of highs and lows.
We traveled to something-something-tuna to play Team Valla - a top 2 ranked team with 4 huge Australians that apparently train with their national team. We came out red-hot and knocked them on their ass, taking game one 25-20. I finally found a rhythm and cranked out a bunch of kills, some even out of the backrow. I also managed to serve 4 or 5 points in a row.
Game 2 was a battle to the very end. Some of us continued to play well while others struggled. We dropped it 25-20 just as they had done to us. There was one too many long runs of points that Valla made that we just couldn't come back with.
Is your seatbelt on? Seat-backs and tray-tables in their upright and locked positions? "Put yo motha f*ck** hands in the air, and wave 'em like you just don't care" - HERE COMES THE BIG DROP ((think Viper)). The roller coaster has hit its crest and we come plummeting down losing the game in a big way. I moved over to opposite and a new outside hitter came in trying to mix things up. I continued to play well, but naturally I was blocked a few more times adjusting to the new lineup. The wheels just about fell off and we lost game 3 big time. I'd rather not mention the score.
Clank-clank-clank-clank- we're on our way back up. Game 4 we battled big. We ran off a couple big runs and I rocked out, blasting kill after kill with the occasional ROOF. I had my own little roller coaster ride that came with its own soundtrack of oohs and aahs from the crowd. We had a pretty good amount of fans considering it was an away game and they serenaded us with a boisterous "Veh Veh Koh, Veh Veh Koh." It was awesome. I'm looking forward to our first home match. Needless to say we won game 4 to force the showdown.
The shootout at the OK Corral was truly epic. We exchanged kills and missed serves until I got THUNDERCLAMPED to give them the lead 7-5. Dave set me right away again and I flub a ball into the antenna. UGLY. We sided out and I had the next serve; I was slightly able to redeem myself with an ace. We battled back to 14-14 after being down as much as 4. They had matchpoint 14-12 and I blasted a ball out of the backrow. We scored again on our serve to tie it up. They called time out, sided-out for a point, and we hit a ball out of bounds to end the match. Just like that, it was all over, the rollercoaster game to a hault. GAME OVER.
To be continued...

When's the next game? Keep 'em coming...the updates! :)
Thinking of you!
Nice story. You could get a side job as commentator for the English-speaking fans.
Is "hault" a Svedish vord?
Have you looked anymore for health coverage? "Limited Term" or "Travel Insurance" is what you should look for. Teta Gin says it's inexpensive. I will look too, but try it at your end. This is for that "run over by a truck" risk.
